In the aftermath of the disasters in New York at the World Trade Center, and in Washington D.C. at the Pentagon, I've tried to collect some of my random thoughts on the matter.

The destruction of the World Trade Center, and loss of human life was a terrible tragedy. I don't think things will ever be 'back to normal' or business as usual again, in certain ways... I'd like to think the images will be imprinted in peoples minds forevermore... but when I think of the U.S. and it's disposable way of life, where everything has to be better, faster, cheaper, and bigger, I start to wonder if this event will be forgotten...

The Pentagon was also attacked, and while it held many human beings, I'm sure some would be willing to debate the 'innocence' of many of them, since they worked for the U.S. Government. It was a terrible and tragic loss of human life, but I can understand the target a bit more, a U.S. Government facility - a symbol of the U.S. itself in many ways... Many people in the U.S. don't know why their country is hated by many others throughout the world. Find those answers...

Cell phones are amazing things... someday everyone will have some sort of communication device with them at all times. Let's just hope the network can support everyone using them at the same time.

Airline/Airport security is a joke. I've only gone on one trip using commercial airlines, and I thought about how poor the security was, and how easy it would have been to carry weapons on board. People have traded security for convenience, just as they do in everyday life, though most of the times it just means being bothered by telemarketers or advertisements.

Racism is alive an well... sadly. As is nationalism and patriotism, and these can be bad things. The loss of human life can be horrific and tragic, in my opinion. In other opinions, you can't push around the Americans! Dammit, we're all the people of this planet, we need to try our best not to destroy each other. Don't hide behind your country, be a citizen of the world. I think the only time people might be persuaded to put aside their blind patriotism is when we have to join together to fight against the alien invasion.

There is no American. Damn these people with their 'I'm an American' - no you're not... you are a United States citizen. When you claim to be an American, are you claiming that your home is North America, South America, or both...? More evidence of the self-centered thinking of United Statesians...

Gasoline panic... we can see how the media and the ill-informed, rumor-believing public can do strange things. People are quick to jump to conclusions, quick to panic, rather than think things through, that much we've always known...

That's all I can think of right now... Life goes on... for some of us.
