RPM Challenge

Whoops! I didn’t finish writing up this project yet…. if you come back later, you’ll see more details…

In 2008 I recorded an album for the RPM Challenge, which is to “record an album in 28 days, just because you can.”

Between 1987 and 1994 I was in a number of bands with other people, and some of these bands played live, some of them recorded stuff, and almost all of them were fun. I like playing music, even though I often feel I’m not very good at it. Anyway, the RPM Challenge is a “challenge” and it’s one I’ve completed three times now.

The great thing about doing the RPM Challenge each year is seeing the progression, not just in songwriting, but also recording, as well as techniques and equipment used. For the first one, I used a cheap USB guitar plug and GarageBand. Since then I’ve stepped up to using a mixing board, FireWire audio adapter, and Logic Express. I also got a much better guitar along the way. The yearly challenge gives me one more excuse to get new toys. :)

(I’m still writing this!)
