jEdit 4.1pre6 now available: Yay… I’ve been using a development version of 4.1pre6 for a while, glad to see things are moving along. As usual, if you need a good text editor, and haven’t yet tried jEdit, give it a try.
FUN is not spelled TILE
I spent most of the weekend re-tiling our bathroom. (Luckily I had the help of someone who knew what they were doing.) I did not find tiling to be much fun. Every now and then people in the tech industry talk about how they think about chucking it all and going into some line of work that’s not computer related, like baking bread, or selling widgets, or what have you. Well, I’m glad I work in the tech industry, because I actually like it, and I think I’m good at it. Sure, sometimes I too think of getting out, but if I ever do, being a tile installation person will not be on my list of professions to try out…
Breathing in tile adhesive and grout powder is almost as bad as debugging Active Server Pages. I said almost.
Wikis
Give Your Users the Power of the Press With Weblogs and Wikis: I’ve found wikis to be an excellent solution to keeping notes on server configs and the like. Especially if you’ve got more than one admin doing things on a box… or a bad memory ;)
Slow Demo
We had another vendor demo recently, and when things seemed to run slow, the vendor said Well, this is a demo server, things normally runs much faster.
so, here’s my question. If your company sells software, and part of selling the software is showing a working demo, do you make sure you have a decent demo box to run things on, or do you just find some old cast off Pentium II to use as a demo server?
Switch
A whole mess of Apple Switch Ad parodies…
