Open Source CMS Survey

Open Source CMS Survey Results, Karim Yaici writes:

The results of the survey I conducted two months ago on the usage of open source CMS, are presented herein.

Interesting stuff… I thought that migrating old content being one of the bigger problems with FS/OSS CMS’s was of particular interest, as much of what I’ve been doing the last few years is moving data between different systems. (Whose your perl buddy?) Honestly though, I don’t think it’s a problem that is in any way unique to FS/OSS systems, in fact I’d think it would be less of a problem with an open system than with a proprietary system.

Sink with California

Damn fools, all of you Californians… You could have had Asa as your leader, insuring every citizen recieved a new and improved version of Mozilla, Firebird, and Thunderbird. As it is, you picked the Kindergarten Cop… I estimate 6 months before California falls into the sea…

Just Reality

While I’m not normally a fan of the “reality” type TV shows of late, but The Joe Schmo Show is something to see. It twists the reality show genre into something of a parody of itself, and if there’s one thing I like, it’s a good parody.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about the Rio MP3 player, it’s that most people who bought one when they were cool have since replaced them with iPods. Since everyone has moved on to bigger, better, more attractive technology, it might be time to invest in one of those Rio devices… I’ve seen them on ebay for around $50, which just about fits into our budget. So while the iPod is probably the best portable digital music player being sold right now, the price puts it out of reach for us. Perhaps sometime in the next few years we’ll look into getting a used 5 gig iPod, but this week we’ll focus on placing a bid on a used Rio 500…

Bugs! Bugs! Everywhere!

I dare say we might be under attack. With the unseasonably warm weather in place, I took a stroll outside, only to discover all sorts of creeping weirdness, not just bees, or wasps, or hornets, or whatever they are, but all variety of jumping and flying and crawling bugs. The outside wall of the building seemed to be covered with at least two dozen cricket-like beings.

Run people, run and hide. I’d suggest running to the basement, but the ground bees are probably already there… Aiiieeee!
