K-2SO Sketch

Hey Rebel Scum, it’s K-2SO your favorite droid from Rogue One. Well, it’s my favorite droid from Rogue One at least…

I’m a big fan of Rogue One. I saw Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope in the theater on opening day with my dad and my brother when I was a kid and it changed my life. Star Wars has had its ups and downs over the years, and some has been better than others. Andor and The Mandalorian have been my favorite series in recent years, and I try to not think about the bad stuff.

I draw these with an Apple Pencil on an iPad in Procreate, in case you’re curious. Anyway, I went with a thicker line for this sketch, and again tried to use a linocut/woodcut sort of style. I did a little more blending of color for the bady, but I still have plenty to learn in Procreate, though I do seem to have found some brushes I use over and over again.

Boba Fett

Boba Fett

Over in the Twittersphere I gained a new follower today: @starwarsart, which has a bio that states “We search the web for the best in Star Wars Art and post it on our site daily!”

Sure, I follow @bonniegrrl, and I enjoy the occasional Star Wars art, but I couldn’t even remember if I had created any in recent times… so I figured I couldn’t let the folks behind starwarsart.org down, so here’s a crummy drawing of Boba Fett I made during lunch.

Of course the fact that they are looking for “the best in Star Wars Art” may mean that this drawing is featured nowhere on the Internet except right here… so enjoy!

Han Solo and Firefox

Ben Goodger had the following to say:

Netscape had it by being first.
Microsoft has it by being everywhere.
Firefox will have it by being best.

We’re coming.

But I think he left out the bit about Netscape blowing it by getting all uppity.

Remember when Han Solo said Great kid, don’t get cocky!? Well, small victories are great, but they are not equivalent to crushing the Empire.

While Firefox may be great, or even the best, I am continually saddened by the fact that many people/companies/organizations do not want the best, they just want the “good enough” – Really? Sure…

Ask yourself this? Is Windows better than Mac OS X? Is a BMW better than a Dodge? Don’t underestimate the power of “being everywhere” cuz while the dark side is not stronger…. ok, I give up on the Star Wars analogies, you get my meaning…

As an aside, I’ve had Firefox version 1.0 Preview Release quit on me a number of times. I can usually tell when it will happen because there is crazy disk activity beforehand. That’s ok, I blame the plugin authors, why? It makes me feel better…
