Poor ev

Aw, man, poor ev! He went and sold that Blogger thing to Google and tried to show them what blogging was all about but they just didn’t get it.

He’s probably so distraught about the whole thing he can barely count the huge bags of money he got from the deal…

Whew, I can thank my lucky stars I don’t have to contend with such conflict in life…

Eat Cake!

Hey, who doesn’t like cake? I know I do! Kim, who I knew back in school when I was a younger lad, alerted me to the fact that Debbie, another schoolyard aquaintence, runs a place called “Eat Cake!” and you can see www.eatcakemilwaukee.com for more on that, or see this OnMilwaukee.com article on Debbie for even more…

So, you know, if you’re near Milwaukee, and need a cake, go see Debbie…

Oh, if you’re not into cake, but just want to see what Scott Smith, or Pyscho Johnny have to say, that’s fine too…

(Tell ’em Petey sent ya!)

Geo Google Addition

In Google Maps I had mentioned that I spent a few minutes hacking on the WordPress Geo Plugin to add support for Google Maps, and, I know, I really should have cleaned up the code and sent it to the author, but he came looking for me, so I ended up sending him my additions for Google Maps which he added in.

I’m so proud.

I mean, I’m not “so proud” of the code, as it was a trivial addition. I’m proud to be contributing to an open-source project that I really like. (WordPress and associated pieces.) I’ve been slacking off on some of the projects I used to contribute quite heavily to, so it’s nice to be able to get something out there people might find useful.

It’s the little things, right? ;)

Pioneers get the Arrows…

Dave seems to suggest there were maybe 4 or 5 blogs in 1997. Well then, bow down folks, because that list must then include: Scripting News, CamWorld, and this here RasterWeb!, and one or two others…

You had no idea I was such a pioneer, did you?

And heck, I won’t even mention how early I was in the podcasting game… (But I will say it was early, so early the word “podcasting” hadn’t even been applied to it yet.)

Now excuse me while I discover the Next Big Thing

Update: Know of any weblogs that existed in 1997? List them here.

New (VoIP) Phone

Polycom VoIP Phone

I got a new phone on my desk at work. It’s a VoIP phone. It took a number of reboots to get it working. Eventually we figured out that having it plugged into a old 10Base-T hub might be the problem, and plugged it into a 100Base-T port. Bling!

Oh, I did managed to um, “crash” my phone, and it needed a reboot. (My, that sounds so very strange!) I’ve also managed to connect to it with a web browser, and heck, I even made a phone call or two.

How incredibly exiciting! I mean, if you’re a phone geek or something. Which I’m not.
